Everybody thinks that being healthy means losing weight and being skinny. Thigh gaps, tiny tummys, and little waists. But in my opinion.. Being healthy is so much better than all of that. Just because someone is skinny doesn't mean they are healthy. I think instead of people wanting to just be skinny, people should focus on being healthy from inside out! If you have been thinking about living a healthy lifestyle one thing you should know is that its not going to happen over night. Leaning to live a healthier lifestyle takes time to get used to and if you try to do it overnight it often learns to binge eating (which i've suffered from) So if you have tried eating better and end up eating the way you did before don't feel discouraged! Its all about making small changes. Today i'm going to be giving you guys a couple of tips and recipes to help you out with that! ♥
Having a colorful food palette is one of the most important things in my opinion. If you really pay attention to what you're eating junk food is mostly brown/yellow which really isn't appealing at all. When you have a colorful food palette filled with greens, yellows, reds, and oranges you'll see that you have a lot more energy, can focus more, and feel so much better all around.
Red food group: Red foods have carotenoid and lycopene. Lycopene helps get rid of free radicals that damage genes. It also defends against prostate, lung, stomach, pancreatic, breast, cervical, colorectal, oral and esophageal cancers. It is also super amazing at helping defend against heart diseases. Red fruits and vegetables help prevent some of the most global killers like cancer, obesity, stroke, and more.
Yellow/green group: Yellow and green foods contain lutein and zeaxanthin. Which are macular carotenoids. This are AMAZING for eye health. These foods will protect your eyes with pretty much anything that can harm them they are pretty much like a natural sun block for your cute little eyes.
Orange group: This group contains alpha-carotene and beta-carotene.
These phytonutrients protect you against cancer. Your body converts them to vitamin A. Alpha- carotene helps fight against aging and protects your skin against ultra violet rays.
Purple group: Purple foods contain powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are antioxidant flavonoids that protect many of your body systems. There is some evidence they help fight against tumors, ulcers, bacterial infections, inflammation, cell aging, and neurological diseases (like Alzheimer’s disease).
Juicers are really amazing because it can make anything into juice! Well.. not everything, you know what I mean. So they are really good if you are trying to shed off some pounds or just trying to eat healthier. If you don't have a juicer laying around your house then I would suggest buying one. They can get pretty expensive but they do have some cheaper ones. You can find them at walmart, target, or anywhere else like that. Drinking a cup of some freshly juiced juice is really good for breakfast because it is a lot better on your digestive system and you can get creative with what you juice and nothing has added sugar like jamba juice or any other "all natural" juices. Not only is this really healthy for you but it tastes amazing.
Some really good things to juice are: Apple slices (with the skin), cherries (without the seeds of course), oranges, cucumbers (with the skin), lettuce, ginger, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, bananas, lettuce, coconut, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and so many more things that i'm probably forgetting.
You can get creative and make blends that you will love! You can also freeze the juice to make an all natural popsicle!
